OULU CITY THEATRE 2023-2024

POST-KABAREE

THE CONCEPT AND DIRECTOR

Welcome to experience the most dazzling, fresh, dramatic, and unique spectacle in the universe—right in the heart of Pikisali! Step into the carousel with us!

Post-Kabaree is an unprecedented spectacle directed by Joel Härkönen and created together with the creative team, set in Pikisali transformed into a 1920s cabaret stage. The show ran for two seasons in 2023-2024 with sold-out audiences.

Post-Kabaree is everything you love about cabaret: singing, music, dance, comedy, circus, and acrobatics. In this evening, all forms of performing arts and all audience emotions are possible. The show constructs a collage of acts that the audience follows closely and becomes a part of.

Expect a 360-degree spectacle and the decayed, decadent atmosphere of the 1920s brought into the present day. At the center of Pikisali is a cabaret carousel, around which the audience will experience stunning and unique musical compositions performed live by a band made up of the cast, playing traditional instruments as well as instruments crafted from scrap metal. The bar is open throughout the evening!

Post-Kabaree is a show about dreams. It creates a world where everyone can accept themselves and others as they are: imperfect, unfinished, yet whole.

Additionally, the show’s sound designer and musician, Härkönen’s trusted collaborator Veli-Ville Sivén, composed 15 new songs for the stage together with the creative team, performed live by the cast-formed band.
